MoniTurb-C-F (12° Forward Scattering)

MoniTurb-C-F is an inline turbidity sensor for the continuous measurement of particles in liquids. It is designed for industrial processes up to 16 bar and 140°C and can be integrated directly into pipelines. The system supports various calibration methods and measurement units such as NTU, FTU, EBC, and ppm, and is optionally available with ATEX certification for use in hazardous areas.

Common Applications and Installation Areas

Chemical Industry
Petrochemical Industry
Power Plants
Wastewater Treatment
Cooling Water Systems
Drinking Water
Oil Separators
Rainwater Collection Tanks
Wastewater Treatment Plants

The MoniTurb-C-F operates according to the 12° forward light scattering principle. A light source emits a focused beam through the process medium, where suspended particles scatter and attenuate the light. A detector positioned at 12° measures the scattered light and evaluates changes in its intensity. An optional reference signal from the transmitted light can also be used to calculate the ratio between scattered and transmitted light. This method ensures high measurement stability by compensating for influences such as product color, lamp aging, and minor optical contamination.

The measurement is approximately mass-dependent: higher particle concentrations generate stronger scattered light signals, resulting in higher measured values within the calibrated measurement range.

The MoniTurb-C-F provides high measurement accuracy in the low to medium turbidity range and is specifically designed for applications with low to moderate particle concentrations. Its compact 12° forward scattering geometry ensures excellent sensitivity and reliable detection of fine particles.

The system is designed for long-term operation, with typical calibration and maintenance intervals of up to 24 months. A durable measuring lamp with an expected service life of approximately 2 years, combined with a robust stainless steel 1.4404 measuring cell and sapphire windows, ensures reliable continuous operation.

Thanks to its compact design, flexible process connections (DIN, ANSI, NPT), and CIP compatibility, the sensor can be easily integrated into existing process systems. Optional ATEX certification for hazardous areas and optional cleaning and flushing systems make it suitable for demanding industrial applications.
