LAS (NIR- / VIS-Absorption)

Continuous inline monitoring of oil contamination and UV-absorbing substances in water and process media for industrial, environmental, and water treatment applications.

Typical Applications and Industries

Chemical Industry
Petrochemical Industry
Power Plants
Wastewater
Cooling Water
Drinking Water
Oil Separators
Stormwater Retention Tanks
Wastewater Treatment Plants

The LAS inline turbidity sensor operates on the principle of light absorption to measure suspended solids in liquids. A light beam passes through the process medium, while a detector positioned opposite the light source measures the transmitted NIR light intensity. The detected NIR signal varies according to the turbidity of the liquid.

  • Low turbidity = High light intensity
  • High turbidity = Low light intensity

The signal converter processes the measured light intensity and calculates the turbidity value. The sensor is compatible with the C1 signal converter or, alternatively, the C2 signal converter.

The LAS sensor combines low maintenance requirements with a wide measuring range, making it ideal for continuous operation and long service life. Thanks to its metal-fused sapphire windows and the food-grade TH Varivent measuring cell, no additional window seals are required. This hygienic design eliminates dead spaces and prevents contamination around the measuring windows, making the sensor especially suitable for demanding hygienic process applications.
