TURBImat-LC (NIR-Absorption)

The TURBImat-LC turbidity meter measures the NIR absorption of particles and other turbidity-causing substances in liquids. The sensor can be submerged in basins, tanks, and open vessels. Alternatively, the rod probe can be inserted into pipelines via a ball valve. Mounting via a flange on the sensor shaft is also possible.

Common Applications

Chemical Industry
Petrochemical Industry
Power Plants
Pulp Industry
Product concentration
sedimentation
Oil in water
Flotation
Paper Industry

The turbidity sensor uses the principle of NIR absorption to detect suspended solids in liquids. The sensor optics incorporate near-infrared LED light sources and a high-precision photodiode detector. Measuring in the infrared range provides accurate results that are unaffected by changes in product color. The sensor windows can be cleaned during operation using integrated cleaning nozzles, eliminating the need for additional wear parts such as mechanical wipers.

  • Accurate turbidity measurement independent of liquid color (NIR absorption)
  • Low maintenance requirements thanks to long service life and extended calibration intervals
  • Automatic sensor window cleaning via integrated flushing nozzles
  • Flexible installation in pipelines, basins, tanks, and open channels
  • Installation and removal without process interruption (e.g. via ball valve or flange)
  • Wide measuring range through variable optical path lengths (from low to very high concentrations)
  • Rugged industrial design made of high-quality stainless steel
  • Sapphire measuring windows; alternative materials available on request
  • Available with DIN or ANSI flange on the sensor shaft
  • Nominal pipe size: Suitable for DN 200 and larger
  • Process pressure: PN 16 / ANSI Class 150
  • Process temperature: Max. 60 °C
  • Sensor material: Stainless steel 1.4471 (other materials available on request)
  • Window material: Sapphire
  • Seal material: Application-specific
  • Measuring range: Typically 0–100 ppm, 0–50,000 ppm
  • Reproducibility: ± 1%
  • Detector system: Silicon PIN photodiode
  • Measuring wavelength: Typically 880 nm
  • Protection class: IP65 / NEMA 4X
  • Optional Ex protection: ATEX Zone I / Zone II
