MoniTurb-C-FS (12° & 90° Scattered Light)

The MoniTurb-C-FS (12° & 90° Scattered Light) is an inline turbidity sensor that continuously measures particles and suspended solids in liquids using a combination of 12° forward scattering and 90° side scattering technology.

Typical Applications and Installation Areas

Chemical Industry
Petrochemical Industry
Power Plants
Wastewater Treatment
Cooling Water Systems
Drinking Water
Oil Separators
Water Treatment
Rainwater Collection Tanks

The MoniTurb-C-FS is an inline turbidity measurement system for the continuous monitoring of suspended solids and particles in liquids. A focused light beam is transmitted through the process medium, where suspended particles scatter the light in different directions. The system combines two scattering measurement principles:

With the 90° side scattering method, light scattered at a right angle is detected, providing high sensitivity to small, finely dispersed particles. The 12° forward scattering method detects light scattered at a shallow forward angle, making it particularly suitable for measuring larger particles.

Both measurement signals are processed together in the signal amplifier (Messenger). By comparing the 12° and 90° scattering signals, the system provides valuable information about the average particle size distribution within the process medium. Calibration is application-specific and can be configured for the required measuring ranges and engineering units.

The MoniTurb-C-FS combines 12° forward scattering and 90° side scattering technology to deliver high measurement accuracy and long-term stability. This dual-measurement principle reliably detects both fine and coarse particles, allowing early identification of process changes while also providing valuable information about particle size distribution.

The system is designed for low maintenance. Measurement influences caused by product color, lamp aging, or contamination of the optical windows are almost completely compensated through ratio measurement. The high-power LED light source offers a typical service life of up to 5 years. Alternatively, a gas-filled full-spectrum measuring lamp with a service life of 1–2 years is available. An optional ATEX version allows operation in hazardous areas. The measuring cell is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, while alternative materials such as titanium, Hastelloy, PEEK, and other materials are available on request. The sensor can be installed in almost any pipeline, with process connections and sealing materials individually adapted to the specific application.
