The FLUORImat oil-in-water monitoring system enables continuous monitoring of water and condensate for oil contamination. Based on the fluorescence measurement principle, it reliably detects even very low oil concentrations at an early stage. This allows process disturbances to be identified promptly, helping to prevent equipment damage and effectively reduce environmental impact.
The FLUORImat operates on the principle of UV-induced fluorescence for the precise detection of oil in water. UV light is absorbed by the hydrocarbons contained in the oil, particularly unsaturated hydrocarbons, and converted into longer-wavelength fluorescent light. As the excited molecules return to their ground state, they emit light in the yellow-green spectrum. The intensity of this fluorescence signal increases directly in proportion to the oil concentration, enabling even the smallest traces of contamination to be detected reliably while providing exceptionally high measurement sensitivity.
To ensure maximum measurement accuracy, influences such as turbidity, contamination of the measuring windows, and aging of the UV light source are automatically compensated by ratio measurement. The system is designed for continuous operation and can be installed directly in pipelines up to DN50 or alternatively in a bypass configuration. It is calibrated specifically for each application and can be supplied with suitable process connections and sealing materials to meet individual process requirements.

The C1 signal amplifier can be used with most optical sensors. System configuration and calibration are performed via a PC or notebook using intuitive menu-driven software. Calibration can be carried out using one or multiple reference samples. All system settings and calibration data can also be backed up externally to the PC’s hard drive.
