The MoniSpec-C-A model process turbidity sensor detects particles and turbidity-causing substances in liquids. The sensor is designed for a process pressure of 16 bar (higher pressures available upon request). Depending on the selected seal material, the maximum process temperature is at least 140°C. The sensor can be configured for use in hazardous areas (ATEX-Ex d IIC / T6).
The MoniSpec-C-A model inline turbidity sensor utilizes the principle of near-infrared (NIR) light absorption to detect solids and colors in liquids. A light beam passes through the product being measured; a detector positioned opposite the light source captures the NIR component emitted by the source. The detected NIR radiation varies according to the level of turbidity.
The Model C1 transmitter processes the sensor’s intensity signals and calculates the measurement values.
The MoniSpec-C-A sensor is designed for continuous operation with long service life. Its gas-filled measuring lamp (380–1100 nm) provides a typical operating life of approximately one year.
The sensor can be installed in almost any pipeline, with process connections and sealing materials selected according to the application. An optional cleaning probe automatically cleans the sapphire measuring windows to ensure reliable operation. During turbidity measurement, the sensor uses near-infrared (NIR) absorption, making it largely insensitive to product color. Different optical path lengths enable a wide measuring range from approximately 0–100 ppm up to 0–60,000 ppm.
An optional ATEX explosion protection version allows operation in hazardous areas. The measuring cell is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel for maximum durability and corrosion resistance.
